Paul McErlean

Paul McErlean is Chairman of the Cathedral Qaurter (Quarter) Steering Group – a group of diverse stakeholders charged with bringing forward a sustainable vision and strategy to develop the most historic part of Belfast as a vibrant cultural hub.

His day job is that of owner and Managing Director of MCE Public Relations – one of Northern Ireland’s leading PR and Public Affairs firms, also based in Cathedral Quarter.

Paul’s other voluntary posts include: Chairman of the leading environmental regeneration charity, Groundwork  (NI); Trustee of the President’s Club; Council member (and former President) of the cross-border and cross-community, Irish Association for cultural, economic and social relations and Trustee of the Dr J H Whyte Memorial fund for political students north and south. He has also formerly served on the boards of Tinderbox Theatre Company and the Colin Glen Trust.

Paul holds degrees from Queen’s and Cambridge Universities and in 2002, he completed an executive MBA from Ireland’s leading business school, the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin. He is married with two children and lives in south Belfast. In his younger days he was a senior inter-county Gaelic footballer with Antrim and represented Ireland in basketball and he still takes a deep interest in all things sporting.
