David Gavaghan
David Gavaghan, Chief Executive of Strategic Investment Board Limited (SIB) since July 2004, has had extensive experience in project finance in the the City of London where he was a director of Hambros Bank, one of the pre-eminent merchant banks in the field.
In May 2007, David was awarded the UK Public Private Finance Award for individual achievement (in recognition of the step change in the volume of activity in the Northern Ireland infrastructure market) and, in September 2008, he was awarded a Fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers by presidential invitation.
David read economics and social sciences at Trinity College, Dublin and whilst at University was a stuntman for six months in John Boorman’s famous film “Excalibur”. His family (seven children ranging from 17 years to one year old) live in Killinchy, County Down and very much enjoy country life. His wife Helen also runs in her spare time a fabulous Thai restaurant in Belfast near to Queen’s University.
